Skipton’s stunning success at Colne 10s

Skipton RFC brought home the Winners Cup from the Colne 10s competition on Saturday after a stunning afternoon which saw the Reds amass 208 points and concede only 17.

En route to the final, Skipton beat Preston Grasshoppers 42-0, North Ribblesdale 26-5, Burnley 17-0, Colne & Nelson 45-0 and West Craven Warriors 40-0.

In the final, the Reds played Burnley (the new name for the Caldervale club) and lifted the trophy with a convincing 38-12 win. Skipton's scorers were tries from Sean Kennedy (3), Hamish Munro, Alex Naylor and George Smithson with conversions from James Burke(2), Alex Naylor and Adam Oldfield.

Meanwhile, Skipton have completed the registration of impressive flanker Michael Snowden from Wharfedale and also secured the services of talented young prop Ryan Binner who has registered at Skipton despite being eyed by Leeds Tykes Academy. Last week, the Reds announced they had already signed full back Lee Battle and speedy back Liam Ray.

Skipton will be starting the season on 1 September with their strongest squad for many years and there is real optimism at Sandylands that last season's success will be repeated again this season.
